MAY 16th – 21st – ORANGE BEACH BILLFISH CLASSIC TOURNAMENT

“The OBBC has been around since 1996 and is now the top fishing event on the Gulf Coast,” said Brian Franc, managing broker for the United Yacht Sales Emerald Coast Division. “Many of our clients are owners of Viking Yachts, Hatteras, custom sportfish, and other fishing boats from the Florida panhandle, around the Gulf Shores, Alabama region, and all the way to the Gulf coast of Texas. It makes sense for us to be a large sponsor of the tournament.” The Orange Beach Billfish Classic is the largest tournament donor to the Billfish Foundation with over $730,000 in contributions to TBF, along with other select conservation organizations. “We are there as anglers in the tournament, as well as to root for our customers,” Brian continued.

JUNE 10th – MARTIN COUNTY FIREFIGHTERS BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION OFFSHORE FISHING TOURNAMENT

Based out of Pirate’s Cove Resort & Marina, the 2nd Annual MCFBA Offshore Fishing Tournament aims to raise money to support firefighters and their families during times of need. Anglers from all over Florida come to participate in this fun and charitable event who want to compete for cash prizes and more. The entry fee goes to the fundraising efforts of the Martin County Firefighters Benevolent Association. Proceeds from the tournament go to provide for financial assistance, scholarships, counseling services, and other forms of support during emergencies. JUNE 21st – 24th – CAROLINA BILLFISH CLASSIC

Known as the premier billfishing tournament in South Carolina and the 3rd leg of the SC Governor’s Cup Billfishing Series, the Carolina Billfish Classic was a perfect opportunity for United Yacht Sales to sponsor. “We have a strong team and sell quite a few boats in South Carolina, particularly out of Charleston,” continued Jeff. “We are co-sponsoring this tournament with John Douglas, one of the leading yacht brokers in the Charleston area.” The tournament home base is at the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina. The final registration date and captain’s meeting is on Wednesday, June 21st with the following 3 days all eligible for fishing.

JUNE 21st – 24th – ELBOW REEF CLASSIC FISHING TOURNAMENT 

In gorgeous Hope Town, Elbow Cay in Abacos, Bahamas, is the Elbow Reef Lighthouse. This is the only manned lighthouse in the entire world that is always manned and who’s burner is fueled by kerosene, not electricity. The lens is hand wound and the lighthouse has been preserved since 1863. All proceeds of the Elbow Reef Classic Fishing Tournament will go to the Elbow Reef Foundation which manages its preservation. This tournament is 4 days of fishing, fun, and festivities that you won’t want to miss in one of the most beautiful destinations in the Bahamas.

AUGUST 5th – 12th – WHITE MARLIN OPEN TOURNAMENT

The White Marlin Open is a 50-year-old deep-sea fishing tournament held annually in Ocean City, Maryland. The tournament awards prize money for catches of white marlin, blue marlin, tuna, wahoo, dolphin and swordfish. The first tournament, held in 1974, drew 57 boats, 150 anglers and paid $20,000 in prize money with the top award of $5,000. The 2022 event drew 408 boats, over 3,500 contestants, and paid out over $8.6 million dollars in prize money including the world record top individual award of $4.3 million. Long known as “World’s Largest Billfishing Tournament,” the White Marlin Open has awarded over $95 million dollars since 1974 to the lucky winners among more than 114,000 anglers aboard over 15,500 registered boats. Along the way, the WMO became not just the largest billfish tournament, but also holds the world record for prize money payouts for any type of fishing tournament.
