As "endless summer" meets summer's end, Newport, Rhode Island is the place to be! America's Sailing Capital is the site of the annual Newport International Boat Show, the Newport Brokerage Boat Show and—NEW this year—The Wooden Boat Show; that are all held concurrently. Both the Brokerage and Wooden Boat Shows are FREE Admission. Water Shuttles are available to transport attendees to and from the Show locations.
The Brokerage Boat Show is the largest north of Florida! Over 100 Sail and Motor Yachts ranging in length from 40 to 185 feet, will be on display. The Brokerage Boat Show is located at 5 Marina Plaza, Goat Island at the Newport Shipyard—an impressive destination by itself. Newport Shipyard is a full-service shipyard and marina facility, equipped with 3 Marine Travelifts, including a 500 MT lift able to haul out huge vessels. Next door, Belle's Café is a recommended place for lunch.
Speaking of lunch, Newport, RI has world class restaurants, besides its famed mansions, national historic sites and beautiful New England fall coastal scenery!
Here are some the United Yacht Sales Brokers' favorite Newport restaurants recommendations:
"Forty 1 North is a staple; Fluke is outstanding; Scales & Shells is always popular and Midtown Oyster Bar is a personal favorite." – Mordy Miltz, VP Spencer Christopher Div
The Clark Cooke House
"Clarke Cooke House! I'm partial." - Christopher Cooke
"I always go to the Black Pearl, but there's a bunch of cool places." – Joe Longobardi
Joe Guard, Managing Yacht Broker, Cape & Islands Div of United Yacht Sales recommends Pasta Beach, "best bread if you can get there early enough to get some," and Winner Winner (chicken), "is a local favorite."
Mooring Seafood Kitchen & Bar: "Scallop Chowder at the Mooring and a bag of donuts is a nice lunch" (LOL) according to Larry Dario
Newport, RI has over 300 years of history! During the "Gilded Age," in the late 19th century from 1870-1900, America's wealthiest made Newport ("City by the Sea") their summer playground. And, of course, many were yachtsmen! Some of these magnificent Newport mansions were used in filming The Great Gatsby starring Robert Redford. For more info, go to discovernewport.org.
New to the Newport Boat Show this year is the Newport Wooden Boat Show – Sept. 14-17 at Bowen's Wharf Marina. Hinckley, Hunt and other Down East-style boats; historic and modern builds will be among the featured boats. Also new in 2019, is the "Newport for New Products," showcasing boats and boating products making their first-time debut in the U.S., according to Show organizers.
Be sure to stop by the United Yacht Sales exhibit at the Brokerage Boat Show. As the largest yacht brokerage firm in the world with brokerage offices located all over North America, UYS is sure to have your dream boat! Headquartered in Stuart, FL (SE Florida), UYS has the centralized back office support and comprehensive marketing systems to efficiently and effectively represent Buyers and Sellers across the United States and beyond!
The Newport Brokerage Boat Show has historically been a great Show for United Yacht Sales and the company expects to have 3-8 quality brokerage boats in the Show this September. According to Mordy Miltz, United Yacht Sales, "Both Newport Boat Shows are attended by people who are BUYERS! All 3 of the boats I had in the Brokerage Show last year had offers and Joe Guard had boats sell as a result of the Show, and Larry Dario has also done quite well over the years too."
The United Yacht Sales team is looking forward to a great Newport Show this year, as we kick off into Boat Show season 2019-2020! We hope to see you there.
