Curtis Josey

Yacht Broker - North Palm Beach, FL

Nothing beats experience and knowledge. Starting his career at the age of 15, Curtis moved from Florida to North Carolina where he participated in charters. After apprenticing there, he assisted Jim Luxton and Randy Ramsey in building a new charter boat, “Sensation”, which turned out to be hull #1 for Jarrett Bay Boatworks. Curtis moved into fishing Billfish tournaments on “Sea Eagle” a 65 Hatteras, from North Carolina to the Bahamas and Mexico. From there, it was “Diamond Lady”, a 61 Buddy Davis from Florida throughout the Caribbean to Venezuela and Belize. These experiences afforded him the opportunity to learn all aspects of such vessels, from performance to maintenance. This knowledge propelled him even further when he attained his 100 ton Master License.

His ability, nurtured by multiple captain’s gigs, allowed him to segue into brokering vessels, including the sale and management of a 60’ B&D. While doing so, he met most of the custom boat builders around the Outer Banks, which engendered a complete understanding of the build process. After 5 years captaining a 74’ Viking, Curtis became a full time corporate captain at Pipewelders Marine in Ft. Lauderdale, running their 59 Spencer “Mimi” and also exhibiting Hatteras’ new GT Sportfisherman model to dealers. Eventually, he progressed to running sea trials for clients. Brokering was a natural selection for Curtis, as it takes full advantage of his experience in all aspects of boating, from fishing, running and taking care of aesthetic and mechanical issues. He knows what a boat should be.

If you want a well-rounded yacht broker, who truly understands what it takes to run, inspect and maintain a variety of vessels, then you are in the best hands possible with Curtis. He knows just what to look for if you want to buy a boat. And, if you want to sell your boat, he will appraise it and advise you on how to get full value for it.
