1986 37 Topaz Custom Express – “Ain’t No Way” Even though this Custom Topaz hull is 1986, it underwent a total refit in 2016 and is an amazing example of one of the best hull designs ever, only upgraded to modern standards with significant upgrades all over.

The best analogy of the level of work done would be a term used in classic car restorations. She has had what is akin to a “Frame-Off” restoration.

She was taken down to the stringers and completely refurbished and in many areas re-engineered to bring this great hull into the modern era with better materials and added functionality.

At the core of this remodel was the complete reworking of the engine and mechanical spaces. This included the removal of the original inefficient gas powered and the installation of brand new Yammer 6YL3 480hp Diesels and a Yammer Diesel Generator.

The wiring, controls, exhausts, and all other systems we replace with brand new systems.

The re-engineering continued in the cockpit where the old wood-trimmed combings were removed and the cockpit sole was replaced with a modern aft draining scupper layout that is a major improvement.

The inclusion of insulated fix-boxes and modern live well in the transom make this a very functional modern sport fishing cockpit.

The helm station and tower were also completely replaced. The help now has a modern layout with all-new Raymarine Electronics.

The custom hard-top and tower were done by Travis at Quality T-Tops before his death. The same supplier and designs are used on Intrepid boats.

The interior was also reimagined. The old clunky ports were removed and a more modern and functional storage shelving system was installed.

The fit and finish of the work done are of the highest standards possible. She is most defiantly “Yacht” quality now and can fit in amongst the best quality express sport fishing boats out there.
